During your consultation with La Jolla rhinoplasty specialist Dr. Malone, she will discuss your anatomical needs and your concerns in order to recommend the best treatments available. You will have the opportunity to have your pictures taken and to carefully study those aspects of your nose that you want to get treated for. Additionally, Dr. Malone will used advanced anatomical imaging software to create a simulation image of how you can expect your nose to appear, if you chose to undergo nose surgery. Specifically, your nose job will be based upon your individual facial anatomy and personal preferences in order to address problem areas such as:
Rhinoplasty also known as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that improves the shape, size and symmetry of a nose and reshapes it to fit more proportional to the rest of the face. A rhinoplasty can correct breathing problems caused by injury, trauma or birth defect. The procedure can also be done for cosmetic reasons to alter the shape and appearance of the nose.
The nose is the central point of the face making the shape of the nose the most noticeable facial feature in most patients. Additionally, the shape of our nose is the primary facial feature that defines our facial image and profile and also refines the appearance of our other facial features. It is very distressing to patients whose nose draws unwanted attention as the focal point of their face and distracts from their beautiful facial features.
There are other treatment choices to change the shape of your nose without undergoing any surgery. Dr. Malone’s practice has different treatments for non-surgical rhinoplasty.
Dr. Malone has a deep understanding of minimally invasive rhinoplasty techniques, including open rhinoplasty in which a small external incision is made on the underside of the nose. This incision heals very well and is less visible over time. For certain types of noses and nasal shaping techniques, this is the preferred approach.
Dr. Malone also utilizes the scarless or “closed” endonasal rhinoplasty technique, which leaves no scars and reduces healing time. The incisions for a closed rhinoplasty are minimally invasive and are done on the inside of the nose where the nasal bones and cartilage are sculpted to leave the desired shape. The procedure uses specialized minimally invasive telescopes to allow nasal shaping with minimal disruption. People typically heal faster with closed rhinoplasty because there is no incision on the skin.
