What to Do To Prevent Bruising

There are a few ways in which you can help prevent or minimize bruising before and after your treatment.

Some medications can stop your platelets, the cells in your bloodstream that help terminate bleeding, from functioning properly. Aspirin and products with NSAID (Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aleve, Advil, Motrin, etc) can prevent the platelets from doing what they do well, stopping bleeding and bruising. To optimize your injectable treatment outcome it is best to avoid these medications for at least one week prior to your treatment.

Here are some tips on what to do after your bruise free injection treatment in San Diego:

Avoid alcohol for at least a day or two
Avoid direct sunlight until any swelling has gone down
Avoid doing inversions in yoga
Avoid exercise (except for walking) for a day or two
Do not massage the injection area for several hours
Ice for comfort and to reduce swelling

You might want to skip on green tea extract and supplements such as fish oil because they act like blood thinners. Avoid Strenuous Exercises

After your treatment, avoid strenuous exercises and even yoga for a couple of days while the capillaries repair themselves. The key is to allow the platelets to be functional and the blood flow to be minimal. Walking, however, is fine. Just be cautious not to increase your heart rate or your blood pressure with strenuous activity. Also, it is best to avoid exposure to the sun until any redness and swelling have resolved. We always encourage patients to use a non chemical sunscreen with a factor of SPF 30 or more.
