What Does The IPL Treatment Process Look Like?

An IPL Treatment begins with your initial consultation with Dr. Malone. During this consultation, we will go over the in and outs of the procedure and create a schedule with you. The best results occur after multiple treatments, hence the importance of knowing how far apart your appointments need to be.

Once we have determined an IPL Treatment appropriate for the skin conditions you are wanting to treat, and your scheduled date arrives, we will provide you with protective eyewear, and apply a cold gel to the treatment areas. We may also consider shaving the treatment area if excessive or dark hair is present, in order to prevent any unwanted adverse effects.

During the treatment, we will apply the smooth, glass surface of the IPL handpiece to your skin, which feels cool and comfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered to the skin surface, you may feel a mild, brief pinching sensation – this is typically described as more ‘uncomfortable’ than painful, but we recognize that everyone has a different pain tolerance. We have multiple ways of mitigating any potential pain derived from the procedure and will discuss all options with you during your consultation.

What To Expect After IPL Treatment?
