The CO2 laser skin resurfacing procedure targets the epidermis (the outer layer of your skin) while heating the lower layers in the dermis simultaneously. What To Expect During CO2 Laser Resurfacing Treatment

The process itself consists of a few steps. First things first, your skin will need to be prepped for the laser resurfacing procedure. This prep work consists of a series of treatments done several weeks prior to the procedure, in order to increase your skin’s tolerance to professional treatments, and helps to reduce any risk of side effects.

When you come in for the actual procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment areas, helping to reduce discomfort. In the event a larger area is to be treated, a simple local anesthetic block be recommended. Then, your skin will be cleansed to remove any dirt, bacteria, or excess oils, after which the treatment will begin.
